Stage One: Seed Collection
Once an area has been harvested in line with strict regulations, seeds are collected from the felled trees surrounding living trees and stored until the area is ready to be re-seeded.
Seeds must be collected from an area within close range of the harvested area and the same composition of species must be put back. For example, if 80 per cent of the trees were Mountain Ash, then 80 per cent of the seeds that are re-sown, must be Mountain Ash.
This is to ensure that the forest re-grows as close to it’s naturally occurring state as possible.
