Community Feedback Period: 4 December 2017- 12 January 2018
VicForests is seeking input from local community members on the proposed updates to its Timber Release Plan (TRP), relating to timber harvesting operations in North East Victoria, West Gippsland and East Gippsland regions.
The TRP is part of an ongoing planning process that begins once an area of State forest is identified as suitable for timber harvesting, and continues until the area has been harvested and successfully regrown.
The TRP lists the areas available for timber harvesting over the next 3-5 years, their locations, the type of forest within and the method of harvesting that would be used in each one. VicForests also regrow all harvested areas with the same type of forest that was originally there.
Community feedback is sought on specific operational aspects of our proposed harvesting plans that may include:
- The timing of harvesting operations
- The use of particular haulage routes
- The proximity of proposed harvesting to private property or public use areas
- The identification and protection of forest values within specific harvesting sites.
Listening to the community ensures that we are aware of what is important to them, so that we can incorporate these things into our plans.
A schedule of all proposed changes and maps indicating approximate coupe locations are available on our website www.vicforests.com.au/proposedtrp
Submissions can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org or via our website feedback form at www.vicforests.com.au/proposedtrpsubmission from 4 December 2017 until 5pm 12 January 2018.
VicForests will review all feedback following this period and incorporate any changes required before submitting to the Board for approval and to the Government to be Gazetted.
