VicForests connecting with its communities on National Tree Day
I’d like to extend to you all a Happy Schools Tree Day, Friday 29 July and Happy National Tree Day on Sunday 31 July.
Planet Ark’s National Tree Day has blossomed into Australia’s largest community tree-planting day and nature care event since its first event in 1996.
VicForests views this event as an opportunity to reflect on what is important to it as an organisation, its communities and its people.
We have embraced this year’s theme of connecting with local community by donating 189 seedlings to the Traralgon Railway Reservoir Conservation Reserve to allow the wonderful park flourish with some more native trees for visitors to enjoy.
Our farm foresters are also helping farmers reconnect with their land and help Victoria meet its future timber and fibre supply requirements through our newly established grants program.
Some of our staff involved in the program have developed the below video, talking about the program, its benefits and what National Tree Day means to them. I encourage you to take a moment to watch the video and learn more about our passionate people and their work.
At VicForests we are committed to sustainable and responsible forestry for the enjoyment of future generations, and we look forward to celebrating National Tree Day for many years to come.
