VicForests is highly scrutinised with extensive internal, external and regulatory audits taking place each year. In addition to the AFS re-certification audit that occurs every three years, VicForests is subject to AFS surveillance audits every six months.
The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning also conducts regular audits of VicForests’ operations as part of its Forest Audit Program.
These audits assess VicForests compliance with the regulations which govern native timber harvesting in Victoria and are performed each year along with VicForests’ own internal auditing.
VicForests is also been subject to VAGO audits as and when required.
